Leonard Williams
I just had a call from Nancy Meyer. Joyce Williams called to let her know that Leonard passed on this morning at 11 a.m. Joyce is doing well and will be okay. I know from going through a long bout with cancer with my dad that it is a blessing when our loved ones are no longer in pain, even though we are so sad to have to say goodby...until later anyway. Please keep Joyce and their family in your prayers.

James Leonard Williams - Arrangements are Pending

James Leonard Willams, age 58 of Salem died Tuesday at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Rodgers-Atkins Funeral Home.

I know what Elaine means, I saw my brother battle a brain tumor. We can rest knowing they are pain free. My deepest sympathy to Joyce and her family.

Leonard was such an unassuming presence in the class of “68”. I remember his shy smile and dancing eyes. I had seen and talk to him a couple of weeks ago at Little Tulsa Café. From the unknown eye, he looked to be better than the last time I had seen him. Of course, that is what that terrible disease does or maybe I just wanted to see it that way. We can all be thankful that he is at peace and had his faith and family to be at his side. Joyce needs all our prayers now and later. Let us not forget her. I know we will continue to keep the family in our prayers.

I am very sorry for your loss. I pray that God will be with Joyce and family during this time of sorrow and give you the strength to continue forward. Lean on your family and friends for any additional strength. May God bless your and yours and keep you in the shelter of his arms always.

I am sorry that I was unable to attend the sercices for Leonard, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with Joyce and her family. I remember Leonard from many many years ago as a sweet person with a wonderful yet very bashful smile. I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends. I too know the sorrow of losing someone (my dad) to cancer, and with it, all of the suffering it brings. It is so hard to let go, but much harder to watch them suffer. May all the good memories you have, override the sadness his passing brings..... God Bless
