We received this update from Rita Rogers about her grandson, Michael:
Dear Friends and Family,
As most of you already know, on November 20, 2008, my grandson Michael Rogers (Brent’s son) was hit as a pedestrian walking along the shoulder of the road by a driver doing 55-60 mph. Mikey was taken to the Greeley Hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO by Flight for Life. Mikey suffered massive brain injuries…. They called it a shearing front to back and side to side. A blood clot was removed from the left frontal lobe. With the spirit of a 15 year old, he fought for his life with every ounce of strength he had. Job well done, Mikey! Mikey remained in Intensive Care for 12 days, and in rehab for another 2 ½ weeks. He was released from the hospital on December 19th, so it was a very special Christmas for all of us. His prognosis is 24 hour supervision for the next year, special 2 hour per day schooling, and therapy of course. They still are not definite as to the extent of his brain injuries. I do know that he does not remember the accident of any of 2008, but he is truly a miracle. He is a changed young man. He is alive, and my prayer is that he will realize who he is and what he is here to do. There is a definite purpose for his life! I know that God heard the hundreds of prayers that went up for Michael, so thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support. And, Thank You for holding the space for a miracle in this blessed holiday season!
Friends and family have asked about a donation fund for Michael since Michael’s family does not have medical insurance and we have no concept as to what the extent of his treatment and care will be for the next year. We have, therefore, established a Donation Account for Benefit of Michael Allen Rogers at Compass Bank in Longmont, CO. Donations may be made directly to the bank for Michael, of if easier you may send them to me:
1849 North Main Street
Longmont, CO 80501
Account # 2511106705
Benefit for Michael Allen Rogers
At your request, the bank will provide a receipt for the gift. You will need to verify with your accountant, however, to determine if it is tax deductible.
I am grateful for you in my life!
In gratitude and peace,
