Shay Black
From Mike Black: SFC Shay Black (U.S. Army) is currently at Fort Riley, KS. training with a Military Transition Team (MITT). A transition team is a 10-15 soldier team that lives with and trains Iraqi Security Forces (ISF), the Afghan National Army (ANA), and other allies in the War on Terror.

As a combat medic Shay is training with a team of Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel. He’ll be shipping out in May, where he’ll be sent where he is needed. It sounds like he’ll be assigned with the Afghan police force.

His tour of duty will be a year, after which he will be reassigned to Fort Lee, VA. Ft. Lee is about 45 minutes from where we live, so that’s some good news. Shay is pretty sure Ft. Lee will be his last assignment before he retires. He plans on staying in the Richmond area.

Shay has moved his family (Diane, Wesley, & Michael) to our area so we can help out while he is gone. Having the Grandkids around is keeping Grandpa & Grandma pretty busy.

Keep him and his family – as well as all our men and women in the service – in your prayers!

Mike Black

Here’s a picture of Shay and Wesley (can you tell he really loves his daddy?). I’ll try to find one of him in uniform from the front, but this one says a lot.
