My mother and I went to Mrs. Turnbull's funeral. She was a cousin and Romine Prairie is my family church. There were heartfelt stories shared at the funeral about Mrs. Turnbull. Some talked about her strong love for her husband Lloyd and how she light up when he was near, others remembered her kind but considerate teaching style, and then there were the jokes about her driving. Mrs. Turnbull was infamous for her lead foot, going down Boone Street 50mph and slamming on the breaks for the stop signs. After my mother stopped driving she rode with Mary Ruth to church, she says it was a scare! Had she gone drag racing on Beer Can Alley...sounds like she would have won!
