Mr. Buddy Earl Maxey
Buddy Earl Maxey, father of classmate Phyllis (Maxey) Wilkinson, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Doctors' Nursing Home in Salem.

He was born August 12, 1921, in Omega, the son of Harry Henry Maxey and Delia M. (Barrett) Maxey. He married Norma Arlene (Smith) Maxey on Oct. 30, 1943, in Salem, and she preceded him in death on. Aug. 29, 2012.

Mr. Maxey is survived by three sons: Wayne Maxey and wife Barbara of Texas, David Maxey and wife Joann of St. Elmo, and Dennis Maxey and wife Judy of Centralia; three daughters: Phyllis Wilkinson and husband Ron of Indiana, Kathy Mohr and husband Stewart of Ohio, and Dianna Henson and husband Stanley of Salem; 17 grand-children; 39 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Herschel, William, Melvin, and Omer Maxey; one sister, Ruby Shelton; two infant sisters; and one infant brother.

Mr. Maxey was a veteran of the United States Army in WWII. He was a farmer, a member of the Free Methodist Church in Salem, and a member of the Farm Bureau. He had been very active in and held many offices in the Zion Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, with Jeremy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Free Methodist Church in Salem.
