Mrs. Ima Jean Cantrell
Ima Jean Cantrell, 88, mother of classmate Bob Cantrell, passed away on July 22, 2015, at the Liberty Village of Maryville. IL. She was both a homemaker and a farm wife who devoted many hours working beside her husband. She was a member of the Marion County Home Extension for many years, belonged to a quilting club, and was an avid bowler who bowled on five separate teams each week at the age of 82. She loved her family, her grandchildren, her great- grandchildren, her sisters, and her sister-in-law. She also enjoyed supporting her family in the sport of horseracing, placing and winning trophies.

Surviving is her son Bob Cantrell and wife Vicki of Salem; daughter Donna Brown of Glen Carbon, IL; granddaughters Connie Scherrer and husband Jason, Nicole Elmore and friend Brian Nagy, and Melissa Hays and husband Ed; her great-grandchildren Ryan, Michael, Cora, Rebecca, Brenna, Ashley, Carter, Ava, and Stephen; her sister-in-law, Ruby Shaffer of Kinmundy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born September 7, 1926, in Orchardville, the daughter of Ernest M. and Maude (Vest) Greathouse, who preceded her in death. She married Melbourne M. Cantrell on April 28, 1949, in Marion County, IL, and he preceded her in death on July 9, 2011. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters.

Funeral services will be 12:30 P.M., Saturday, July 25 at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with burial in Iuka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. until the service hour. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Fair Board and will be accepted by the funeral home.
