From Barbara :The funeral for Barbara Elaine Marks was held at First Christian Church in Salem on July 2, 1956 at 2pm with the Reverend Raymond Whitty of Olney presiding. Barbara was born in Vandalia on July 6, 1950. The daughter of Bernard and Daphine Marks of Salem. McMackin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

I remember Barbara, she was Larry Marks' little sister and they lived across the street from us on Bryan Street. Barbara drowned in a pond that was back to the north east of us the summer before we started school. Our birthdays were only one day apart, I was older by a day and that was a really big deal. I wish you all could have known her, I lost my best friend at a very early age. Jeannell
